Wiggy FAQ Home
Who Is Wiggy?
Wiggy is a fictional character. Any similarity with people either living or dead is entirely coincidental.
Who's hairstyle is the wig based on?
No-one in particular. There are two main wigs and it's up to you to decide which is male and which is female! From time to time we might introduce guest wigs for a limited time only. So you'll need to come back to the site regularly if you want to catch the latest styles.
Where did the idea come from?
Wiggy was the name of a character in a comedy sketch by English comedian Jasper Carrott in the late 1980's (the wig worn was of very poor quality and easy to spot). Our Wiggy is not really based on that character but more akin to the cartoon character drawn by soldiers during the second world war. Wherever they went the soldiers drew a cartoon character on various items with the caption "Kilroy woz ere". The craze caught on and Kilroy appeared all around the world. We hope that Wiggy will emulate this success and appear in photographs taken from all corners of the globe!!
How do I get involved?
It's easy to join the Wiggy craze - just download a wig (see home page) and persuade someone to take a photograph of you wearing it. You don't have to be anywhere exotic (but we'll be more impressed if you are). Then simply email the picture to submissions@worldwidewig.co.uk, remembering to state where and when the picture was taken, your name and your chosen Wigster name. Members of the Wig High Council will score it, add it to the site and then email you back. If it's good enough you'll even appear on our Wigster highscore table!!
What is Wiggy Art?
Almost anything goes, as long as it represents one of the wigs - be artistic, let your creativity run wild - forget the Turner prize send your artwork to us instead.
Which famous people would you like pictures of?
We'd love to get Wiggy pictures with anybody vaguely famous, these are the people at the top of our current wish list:

Paul O'Grady
Jasper Carrott
Terry Wogan
George W Bush
Bruce Forsyth
Prince Charles
Naomi Campbell
Tony Blackburn
Angelina Jolie

If you do manage to "bag" one of these you'll get a special mention on the site.
Are you associated with the website worldwidewig.com?
Certainly not! However we are aware of their site and admire their work.

Yes - we won't bore you with the details just yet, suffice to say that we won't be held responsible for paper cuts or allegations of real wig usage.
